FLUXRECORDS opus 257 "In 2002 I received an email from Paul D. Miller (DJ Spooky), who was especially fond of my requiem for Iannis Xenakis called XENA/7.8 (2000/2001). He suggested that we get involved with a project about PI by John Sims for his MathArt Project. After we discussed some details, John sent me raw recordings of his voice speaking the numbers 0-9. Paul sent me a copy of "Haunted Beats", which contained breakbeats that he took from vinyl recordings or other sources. I then composed PI 31415 (2002) using a technique I was developing at this time called "Expressionlogy". The recordings were broken down into atomic and subatomic units of samples. To this array of sounds I added pure electronic voices, to form a continuum between organic and synthetic sounds. During the 3 minutes and 14 seconds of PI, these various sources transform into each other, freeform style. There are references to the DJ scratching technique, Filter Disco, and Max Headroom in the composition." |

FLUXRECORDS opus 32 "Belief closes the 2001-2002 marathon when the US is engaged in yet another war. Originally written during Bush the Elder's war with Iraq, it demonstrates the ignorance and danger of republican hallucinations, in times where poverty is a crime and the laws of greed and maximum profit are about to become the laws of the world. However America was founded largely by Freemasons who had and have a wide range of philosophical allegory, only a concern for a fair wage, a division of the day into three 8 hour periods devoted to work, rest & charity, and a belief in The Grand Architect of the Universe. Americans in essence are builders and the true enemies of America are those who profit from the ignorance of others." |
